Jasper is an opaque form of Chalcedony.  Chalcedony is a term that is used to describe a wide variety of quartz.  Other forms of Chalcedony include Agate, Bloodstone, Carnelian, and Chrysoprase.

The Red Jasper above shows one of the many color combinations you might find in a piece of Jasper.  Jasper is commonly used to make jewelry and looks very attractive when polished.

Other varieties of Jasper include Ocean Jasper and Yellow Jasper.
