Long Acre Farms
Long Acre Farm in Macedon, NY is an agri-tourism farm with lots to do and see. The farm became known as Long Acre Farms because many of the crop fields measured over one mile in length. Long Acre Farms' true claim to fame came in 1998 with the introduction of their Amazing Maize Maze®. In addition to families and tourists, the maze also attracts groups for school field trips and corporate team building.
The Maze is much more than a walk through the corn. It is a 5 acre game with 2 1/2 miles of paths, music piped throughout, 2 bridges, a tower, 12 hidden mailboxes, 12 "Kernels of Knowledge", and of course groups of people having fun. The Maze is so huge that the staff at Long Acres offers a "Stalk Talk" orientation about the maze and the games you can play.
Other activities you can do while visiting the farm include:
Gemstone Panning - Purchase a bag of mining ore and head over to the sluice. Let the water do all the hard work for you. As the water from the sluice falls over your panning screen the mining ore will wash away the dirt to reveal the gems. Everything you find is yours to keep.
Shop at the Market - a wonderful bounty of fresh produce, jams, gourmet salsas, and pies await at the market. There is even homemade fudge!
Sweet Cone Shop - Nothing beats a tasty cone on a hot day. While at the Sweet Cone Shop, be sure to enter the “Flavor of the Year Contest.”
